Designing modern mexican souvenirs

PROBLEM STATEMENT
 

Tourists are in search of memorable mementos to cherish their vacation memories. These keepsakes must be effortlessly portable, resilient, and lightweight.

MY ROLE​

Independently developed my dissertation project into a successful souvenir brand that was sold in the most important airports across Mexico from 2012 to 2018.

Personally handled the brand design, the product design and product development. Managed a team to get the product to market,  pitched and sold the products to key retailers across various Mexican territories. 

RESEARCH

Technique: Qualitative user interviews

Target Audience: Tourists at the airport

RESEARCH RESULTS

  • The users look for something memorable that reminds them of their visit. 

  • The users mentioned 3 things that remind them of Mexico:

    • ​The food

    • Mariachis

    • Beach

  • The users want a souvenir that is easy to transport, lightweight and affordable.

PRODUCT

 

After analysing the user research results we designed a modern, fun and creative Mexican souvenirs based on the world recognised Mexican tacos.

The product is light, easy to transport, memorable and competitively priced within the market.
